In June, Lonnie spent three days on the water at the Heroes New Hope Foundation fish rodeo, a fishing event for disabled veterans.

The blind fishermen in the group caught enough to put on a fish fry for everybody. What Lonnie came away talking about, though, was not the fishing. It was the other veterans — sitting with them, hearing their stories, and hearing what they had given up.
